Invariant

Formal verification · an “always true” rule

created · updated

A condition that must hold in every state of the system, in whatever order actions come. For example, in a shop money is never charged without an order, and in a meeting transcriber a private recording never reaches shared storage. Model checking looks for a chain of steps after which the invariant breaks.
