One-relator group

Groups, moves and rules · any number of moves, one rule

created · updated

A group that can be defined by any number of moves but a single rule. A lot is known about such groups, for example Newman’s theorem on the friends of any move. The game “step and lift”, with its two rules, is not one of them; the paper arXiv 2610.23637 derives this from Newman’s theorem.
