Automated test

created · updated

A short program that runs code with a given input and compares the result with the expected one. It is written once and run after every edit, and if an edit broke something that worked, the test fails. Engines such as Jest, Vitest and QUnit run such tests for JavaScript code. A test catches only what you thought of checking in advance, so it is complemented by models of rules and by checking the tests themselves.
