QUnit
Testing · a JavaScript test framework
created · updated
An automated test framework for JavaScript code, from the same family as Jest and Vitest. A test feeds a given input to a finished function and compares the answer with the expected one. The name resembles Quint, but it is a program of a different class: QUnit checks written code, while Quint checks the rules of a system. The reliability of the tests themselves is checked by mutation testing: a defect is introduced into the code to see whether a test fails.
QUnit and Quint
| QUnit | Quint | |
|---|---|---|
| What it checks | a finished function’s answer for given inputs | no forbidden states in any order of actions |
| What it needs | written code | a description of rules, the code may not exist |
| What is hard | thinking up inputs | stating rules so that they reflect reality |
